Finland's Micragirls arrived in the early 2000s with a string of raw, boisterous, and flamboyantly retro indie-pop singles that tipped their hats to Helen Love and Betty & the Werewolves, along with the assorted acts anthologized on garage-rock collections such as Born Bad and Back from the Grave—records the trio themselves named as major touchstones. Mari on lead vocals and guitar joined forces with keyboardist Kata and drummer Risu to launch the group in 2001; their first 7-inch, Are You Insane, appeared the next year on Music for People. Over the following four years the band issued additional singles—Mindtwistin' Weekend with the Micragirls in 2003, Primitive Homeorgan Blast in 2004, and Feeling Dizzy, Honey in 2006—plus the two-disc set Feeling Dizzy, Honey!? on Bone Voyage Recordings in 2006. That compilation was later reissued in LP format, first by Peachy Doll Records in 2007 and again by Bone Voyage the year after. Bone Voyage also put out the 2008 single Rock ‘n' Roll Rocket/Haunted Heart, which preceded the Micragirls' second album, Wild Girl Walk, in 2009.
