Biography
Originating on Long Island, the Reunion Show assembled in 2000 once vocalist Mark Thomas and drummer Skully exited Step Lively. Former members of Waiting Process and Edna's Goldfish joined the lineup, prompting the group to begin rehearsals throughout the New York region. The name itself arose from an exchange in La Crosse, WI, after which the Reunion Show launched tours first in the tri-state area and later across the United States.
In 2002, with guitarist Derrick Sherman and vocalist/bassist Brian Diaz rounding out the roster, the band issued its debut EP, The Motion, on Law of Inertia and also secured a deal with Victory Records that May. The full-length Kill Your Television arrived that autumn. Its crunchy punk riffs fused with melodic pop prompted comparisons to Jimmy Eat World, Elvis Costello, and the Cars, while a video for Kill Your Television was filmed under Andy Dick’s direction.
Sherman and Diaz departed by early fall 2003, replaced by Adam Manning and Clarke Foley, both previously of Count the Stars. The personnel shifts led the Reunion Show to dissolve, and three-fourths of the remaining members resurfaced as Action Action in mid-2004.
