The Sleeping, a Long Island, NY outfit, fuse emo, hardcore, and assorted additional styles into a charged, angst-driven blend much as fellow acts Coheed & Cambria and Taking Back Sunday have done. Vocalist Doug Robinson, guitarist Cameron Keym, bassist Sal Mignano, and drummer Joe Zizzo arrived in the group after stints in several earlier bands, one of which was the since-defunct Skycamefalling; those prior projects lent a further progressive dimension to the Sleeping’s 2004 debut, Believe What We Tell You. Issued on One Day Saviour, the album preceded the band’s signing with Victory Records during fall 2005. In May 2006 the Sleeping appeared on the main stage of New Jersey’s Bamboozle festival, with their second full-length, Questions and Answers, arriving later the same month. Extensive road work followed, encompassing coast-to-coast shows alongside Bayside and Halifax, a two-week stretch on Warped Tour, and an overseas run lasting a month.
