Biography
Hailing from Texas, the Statesboro Revue fuses grounded tones drawn from country, blues, folk, and rock & roll under the direction of brothers Stewart and Garrett Mann. The outfit first appeared in 2009 with a clear blues-rock emphasis before pursuing multiple roots-oriented avenues across the next decade, a progression that led to their vivid third album, 2015's Jukehouse Revival. A five-year silence ended when the band resurfaced in 2020 via several standalone singles.
The group originated in 2008 in New Braunfels, the Austin satellite town, and initially delivered an aggressive blues-rock approach shaped by frontman and primary songwriter Stewart Mann, whose brother Garrett supplied lead guitar. Teaming with producer David Z, they completed their debut Different Kind of Light in 2009, which sent two singles into the upper reaches of the Texas Music Chart. High-profile SXSW showcases and support slots with the Allman Brothers Band and the Wailers followed in subsequent years, allowing the musicians to stretch creatively before issuing their second album, 2013's Ramble on Privilege Creek. Heightened country, Americana, and Southern rock touches refined their approach and yielded the more cohesive Jukehouse Revival in 2015. Activity stayed low during the second half of the decade, yet the Statesboro Revue broke the quiet in early 2020 with the boisterous single "Sinner, Saint, S.O.B." The blues-inflected "Good Love" appeared as another independent release later that year.
