THEESatisfaction

The alternative R&B pair known as THEESatisfaction, noted for its cosmic yet grounded approach, features Stasia "Stas" Irons alongside Catherine "Cat" Harris-White. These musicians first crossed paths at the University of Washington in Seattle, the city that remains their base of operations. From the whimsical self-released EPs and singles that began with the 2008 project That's Weird, the self-contained unit sustained the legacy of maverick jazz, soul, and rap figures across multiple decades while claiming its own space among seasoned contemporaries such as Erykah Badu, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and Sa-Ra. Openly crediting their influences, they honored select favorites through themed EPs yet established a singular identity even before following fellow travelers Shabazz Palaces to Sub Pop. The Seattle-based imprint released the duo's first proper album, Awe Naturale, in 2012, followed by EarthEE in 2015. Throughout this period Irons and Harris-White expanded Black Weirdo, originally a pro-Black weblog, into parties, a clothing line, and a platform for promoting kindred artists.
