Thick, a Brooklyn-based trio, developed their craft inside New York’s independent all-ages circuit toward the close of the 2010s. Their jagged, high-octane punk style and surging, emotionally charged melodies quickly built them a loyal audience. After stirring interest with a run of self-released singles and EPs, the group joined Epitaph and issued their first album, 5 Years Behind, in 2020; two years later came the follow-up, Happy Now.

Nikki Sisti (guitar and vocals), Kate Black (bass and vocals), and Shari Page (drums and vocals) started performing locally in 2016, offering their earliest singles “Anymore” and “It’s Always Something” before year’s end. While many songs confront social and political subjects, the band’s clamor also carries an undercurrent of levity and untamed exuberance. Following their independent 2018 EP Would You Rather?, Epitaph signed Thick and released a self-titled EP in March 2019. With producer Joel Hamilton (Iggy Pop, Tom Waits) they tracked their debut full-length, 5 Years Behind, which appeared in early 2020. In early 2022 the band issued the standalone single “Love You Forever,” written as a gift for a friend’s wedding, setting the stage for their second album, the turbulent and confessional Happy Now, released later that year.
