Biography
Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the punk trio Thin Lips crafts music marked by precise, edgy lines and substantial sonic weight under the direction of guitarist and lead vocalist Chrissy Tashjian. Earlier, Tashjian had performed in the respected punk outfit Dangerous Ponies, which dissolved around the middle of 2013; within half a year she joined forces with former bandmate Kyle Pulley, who switched to bass for this endeavor. Once drummer Pat Brier, previously of Tiger's Jaw, came aboard, the group began performing under the Thin Lips name and issued its debut single, "Gemini Moon" b/w "Non-Monogamy Nightmares," in November 2013. By summer 2014 Brier had departed, prompting the arrival of Tashjian's brother Michael Paul Tashjian—another Dangerous Ponies veteran and current member of the Weaks—as the new timekeeper. Following extensive live shows, the band tracked and put out the four-song EP Divorce Year in May 2015. Soon afterward Thin Lips grew into a quartet by recruiting second guitarist Chris Diehm. Further road work and favorable coverage in the indie press led the group to record its debut full-length, Riff Hard, scheduled for release on Lame-O Records in 2016.
