Biography
Enthusiastic write-ups on Scandinavian-focused outlets such as It's a Trap! and Swedespease helped secure a major-label contract for Those Dancing Days shortly after the all-girl Swedish twee pop outfit first assembled. The quintet came together in a Stockholm suburb during 2005, its lineup consisting of Rebecka Rolfart, Cissi Efraimsson, Lisa Pyk Wirstrom, Mimmi Evrell, and Linea Jonsson. Early synthy, handclappy tracks uploaded to MySpace quickly drew attention from Swedish indie-pop enthusiasts. Their sweet-as-pie indie-pop approach, which recalled the Acid House Kings, the Concretes, and the Besties, earned notice both domestically and internationally throughout 2007, when the band appeared as Spin.com’s Artist of the Day and earned a slot on the Swedish television song contest Grand Prix. V2 Music signed the group that same year, releasing its self-titled debut EP at the end of August. The full-length debut In Our Space Hero Suits followed in 2009. Those Dancing Days resurfaced in 2011 with Daydreams & Nightmares, a more polished collection shaped by ’80s dance-rock and post-punk textures.
