Dutch progressive house duo Tinlicker have issued their free-spirited and at times wistful productions through prominent imprints such as Mau5trap and Anjunabeats. Blending cutting-edge production techniques with heartfelt songwriting, the pair first gained notice via club tracks including the 2017 release “Because You Move Me” and the 2018 single “Nothing Without You,” ahead of issuing their debut Anjunabeats long-player This Is Not Our Universe in 2019. Additional singles and remixes paved the way for the 2022 full-length In Another Lifetime.

Before establishing Tinlicker in 2012, Jordi Van Achthoven and Micha Heyboer had each spent more than ten years creating dance music. Van Achthoven issued progressive and hard house material under the name JVA and through collaborations such as Essential Groovers and Sidesteppers, while Heyboer performed with the respected drum’n’bass outfit Black Sun Empire along with its trance-oriented side projects Empirical Labs and Charger. The Utrecht-based producers launched their Tinlicker output on the independent Zero Three Zero label, beginning with the aptly named 2012 EP It’s My First Time Here. The expansive digital album Remember the Future followed in 2013, and the duo placed three EPs on Feed Me’s Sotto Voce imprint, the first being 2014’s Like No Other.

After several standalone singles and a 2016 remix collection drawn from Remember the Future, Tinlicker reached a broader listenership in 2017 with the Mau5trap release Jalapeño and the Anjunadeep appearance of “Soon You’ll Be Gone,” which featured frequent collaborator Thomas Oliver. That same year Armada Electronic Elements issued “Because You Move Me,” a collaboration with Helsloot. Throughout 2018 the pair continued to release singles across those three labels, among them another Oliver feature titled “Nothing Without You” and the CUT_ collaboration “If I Was.” The 2019 Anjunabeats album This Is Not Our Universe incorporated joint work with Oliver, Helsloot, and Run Rivers, together with the duo’s reinterpretation of Alt-J’s “Breezeblocks.”

A collection of remixes and the Astralwerks-issued Paradise EP surfaced in 2020, alongside an official Tinlicker version of Robert Miles’ influential ’90s trance track “Children.” The EP Lost Gravity arrived in 2021, accompanied by singles such as “Run Away” with Ben Böhmer and Felix Raphael and “Hypnotised” alongside Dosem. The full-length In Another Lifetime landed on Anjunadeep in 2022, featuring guest vocalists that included Roos Jonker and Nathan Nicholson.
