Biography
Since 1991 the Puerto Rican freestyle DJ and producer from Brooklyn known as Tony Touch has shaped the mixtape landscape through recordings that fuse reggae, rap, house, R&B, and Latin underground material. A pair of his releases, “50 Emcess Parts 1 & 2,” earned him consecutive victories in the annual Mixtape Awards’ Best Freestyles category. He has performed in clubs across New York, Miami, and Puerto Rico while touring alongside Guru, the Roots, Fat Joe, and Big Punisher, and he has also created tracks for Flipmode Squad, Sunz of Man, and Cocoa Brovaz. In his role as an emcee, Touch collaborated with P.F. Cuttin’ and DJ Muggs on the Rican-Struction EP. He issues material under the additional aliases Von Bo Bo, Mr. Coco Tosso, and Tony Toca, and has put out more than 60 mixtapes, among them Can’t Sleep on the Streets and Power Cypha 3: The Grand Finale, many issued via his own Touch Entertainment label. After signing with Tommy Boy in 1999, he delivered The Piece Maker during the spring of 2000.
