Biography
Determined to shatter assumptions that every Christian heavy metal act must echo Stryper, Ryan Clark on vocals and guitar, drummer Morley, bassist Steve, and guitarist Don Clark pulled out their old Slayer albums and launched Training for Utopia. The quartet also drew from Unsane, Karp, and Meshuggah, issuing their debut EP The Falling Cycle in 1997 and the follow-up Plastic Soul Impalement the next year. A split EP with Solid State labelmates Zao arrived in 1998 as well, after which the band shifted course by folding techno and industrial textures into the 1999 album Throwing a Wrench into the American Music Machine. Technical Difficulties surfaced in April 2004. The Clark brothers subsequently formed the metal outfit Demon Hunter in Seattle.
