Biography
In 2003 the noted Brazilian pop artists Arnaldo Antunes, Carlinhos Brown, and Marisa Monte united as Tribalistas to issue a self-titled album. Predominantly acoustic yet accented by electronic touches, the record placed its chief focus on Monte’s vocals even while preserving a light attachment to the trio’s Brazilian origins. The release earned multiple Latin Grammy nominations, among them Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Brazilian Contemporary Pop Album, and Best Brazilian Song (Portuguese Language).
