Twinz

Following the breakthrough of his track "Regulate," Warren G, the G-funk producer and rapper, oversaw the brief trajectory of the Twinz, a West Coast rap duo. Conditions looked promising at the time. Warren G had landed a major success with "Regulate" and the follow-up arrival of his Regulate...G Funk Era album in 1994; the wider G-funk wave, led by Death Row Records, had meanwhile built a massive audience; and the Twinz, made up of real twin brothers Deon and DeWayne Williams, had landed a distribution arrangement via Warren G's own label, Def Jam. Their release, Conversation from 1995, yielded the singles "Round & Round," "Eastside LB," and "Jump ta This," yet none registered strongly. The Twinz also appeared on Warren G's next album, Take a Look Over Your Shoulder in 1997, but the contribution failed to prolong their stay at Def Jam. The label therefore cut ties with the duo, as did Warren G himself while facing his own mounting difficulties.
