Biography
Formed in Austin, TX, the alt-metal group Ünloco features Joey Duenas handling vocals, Brian Arthur on guitar, Victor Escareno on bass, and Peter Navarette behind the drums. This Latin quartet came together in summer 2000 after Duenas conceived the project. A devoted Goldfinger admirer, Duenas approached the band for an autograph yet instead handed guitarist Charlie Paulson an early demo recording of Ünloco material. That encounter led directly to a Maverick recording contract and the release of their self-titled debut album in spring 2001. Fans continued to embrace the six-song EP Useless, while the band’s aggressive rap-rock style earned prominent stage time alongside Kottonmouth Kings, System of a Down, and Powerman 5000. In addition, Ünloco contributed the track “Nothing” to the soundtrack of the 2000 Adam Sandler film Little Nicky.
