Biography
Massachusetts trio Valleyheart builds its emo-infused indie rock upon a foundation of cinematic, heartfelt alternative rock. The group first issued its debut album, Everyone I Ever Loved, through Rise Records in 2018 before sharpening a distinct identity on the 2022 sophomore LP Heal My Head.
Singer/songwriter Kevin Klein and childhood friend Filipe Inacio, both veterans of teenage hardcore bands, launched the project as a vehicle for Klein’s solo folk material. With Chris Babbit added on bass and Jonathan Miller on drums, Valleyheart delivered the debut EP Nowadays in 2016. Rise Records noticed the anthemic, emo-infused alt-rock blend, signed the band, and reissued the EP in 2017 after remastering and remixing the original tracks while appending two new ones. The quartet then entered the studio with producer and engineer Kevin Billingslea (Lamb of God, Trivium) to begin work on a full-length record. Several advance singles preceded the arrival of Everyone I Ever Loved at the close of 2018, followed by a U.S. tour in support the next year.
Miller exited in 2020 and was succeeded by Zachary Nix. Fresh material surfaced in 2021 via the EP Scenery, after which the band resumed sessions with Billingslea for its second album. Now signed to Tooth & Nail, Valleyheart unveiled the opening tracks “The Numbers,” “Your Favorite Jacket,” and “Miracle” in early 2022; the completed album Heal My Head reached listeners that June.
