Biography
With origins in the American South, All Get Out fuse indie rock and emo punk, merging the melodic warmth and intensity of Band of Horses and My Morning Jacket with the raw, insistent singing style of Modest Mouse and Manchester Orchestra. Emerging in the final years of the 2000s, the group released the underground favorite The Season in 2011, then entered an extended period of reflection that concluded in the late 2010s with the arrival of Nobody Likes a Quitter and No Bouquet. Entering the 2020s, they shifted direction on the 2022 album Kodak and refined that approach on their self-titled return, All Get Out, issued in 2023.
The South Carolina-based outfit was started by vocalist Nathan Hussey and guitarist Kyle Samuel, who later added drummer Dominic Nastasi and bassist James Gibson. Their approach paired melodic guitar lines with propulsive rhythms that underscored often confessional and unsparing lyrics. Following the first self-titled debut in 2008, they delivered 2011’s The Season, which earned cult status within indie and emo circles. Even after that breakthrough, the band stayed largely inactive for several years while reassessing the project’s direction.
All Get Out resurfaced in 2015 with the Movement EP. They promptly issued Nobody Likes a Quitter on Favorite Gentlemen/Bad Timing Records in 2016, an album produced and co-written with Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull and Robert McDowell. While that record was still being mixed, the band channeled fresh momentum into writing its successor. The resulting fourth album, No Bouquet on Equal Vision, appeared in 2018 under the guidance of producer Mike Watts, known for work with Glassjaw and the Dear Hunter. As the decade closed, the duo issued additional material, including the 2019 Northport Sessions EP, an Audiotree Live EP, and a 2021 acoustic reinterpretation of The Season marking its tenth anniversary.
Turning toward a fresh chapter, All Get Out unveiled their fifth album, Kodak, in 2022, marking a deliberate change in course. They extended that trajectory on the swift follow-up, the second self-titled LP All Get Out in 2023, which wove folk, emo, and Americana elements into an expanded palette that broadened their songwriting range.
