The five-piece Atlanta outfit Warehouse sets melodic strains drawn from the collegiate rock peak of nearby Athens—embodied by B-52's and R.E.M.—against a refined post-punk framework. Raw-edged singing from vocalist Elaine Edenfield sits atop the meticulous, compact constructions supplied by guitarists Alex Bailey and Ben Jackson, bassist Josh Hughes, and drummer Doug Bleichner. Following a period of local performances, the group issued its first recording, the Tesseract LP, via Bayonet Records. Pulling together strands from Stereolab and Wire as well as painter James Abbott, Warehouse fashioned an elaborate yet gratifying art-pop aesthetic. September 2016 brought the band's sophomore effort, Super Low.
