Biography
Warmduscher came together in London during 2014 as a rock & roll outfit whose roster drew from several established local groups. Clams Baker, Jr. of Paranoid London fronts the ensemble while sporting his signature Stetson, joined by Fat White Family alumni Saul Adamczewski, billed as “The Saulcano,” and Lightnin’ Jack Everett, alongside Ben Romans-Hopcraft of Insecure Men, who performs under the alias “Mr. Salt Fingers Lovecraft,” and Paranoid London’s Quinn Whalley, also known as “The Witherer” or “Little Whiskers.”
Their debut full-length, the raucous Khaki Tears, surfaced in 2015 via Trashmouth Records, after which two singles arrived in 2018. Those cuts were helmed by producer Dan Carey, whose credits include Kate Tempest, Bat for Lashes, and the Kills; Carey later oversaw the band’s second album, Whale City, issued the same year on the Leaf Label. Once those sessions concluded, Adamczewski departed to concentrate on Insecure Men, the project he co-leads with Romans-Hopcraft. The latter remained active in both ensembles, and Adam J Harmer came aboard under the monikers “Cuddles,” “The Duchess,” and “Quicksand.” In early 2019 the refreshed lineup tracked the glossy yet unruly “Midnight Dipper,” which served as the flagship single for their third album, Tainted Lunch. That record, still issued by the Leaf Label later in 2019, showcased guest appearances from Iggy Pop and Kool Keith and extended the group’s self-described blend of funk, punk, hip-hop, and lounge rock.
Pandemic restrictions stalled subsequent plans, yet the members resumed songwriting and entered the studio again in 2021. When longtime collaborator Dan Carey contracted COVID-19 just prior to the dates, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Al Doyle assumed production duties, resulting in the band’s fourth album, the ’80s-inflected At the Hot Spot. Released in 2022, the set was heralded by the single “Fatso.”
