Wim de Craene, the Belgian cabaret singer, entered the world in Ghent during 1950. His initial forays into music involved performing with the Flemish folk band Ja, after which Miel Cools mentored him starting in the early 1970s; this guidance led to successful tracks such as "Rozane," "Breek Uit Jezelf," and "Tim." He penned his debut musical Help, Ik Win Een Miljoen and made two attempts at his country's Eurovision selection process before blending elements of pop, rock, disco, and new wave into his style, though commercial success waned. Following the release of his last record Via Dolorosa in 1988, he took his own life two years later via an overdose of anti-depressants, yet posthumously his work has received greater acclaim.
