Biography
Wyatt Flores, an Oklahoma-based troubadour, draws on earthy narratives to cultivate a devoted grassroots audience while blending country, rock, pop, and folk traditions. His raw initial releases captured the perspective of a Mexican American raised near Stillwater’s fringes, attracting notice from Island Records. The artist launched his major-label career via the 2023 Life Lessons EP, which was succeeded in early 2024 by the Half Life EP that registered on Billboard charts.
Flores absorbed music throughout his childhood, with his father performing as a drummer amid the red dirt country circuit. He absorbed sounds from fellow Oklahomans ranging from Garth Brooks to All American Rejects. Once performing original material in neighborhood venues, he pointed to singer-songwriters such as Tyler Childers and Jason Isbell as exemplars of candid, regionally grounded tales. At age 19 he left college behind, issuing tracks independently online alongside ranch work. Minimalist acoustic numbers including “Travelin’ Kid” and “Please Don’t Go” gained substantial streaming traction, leading to the 2022 release of his debut EP, The Hutson Sessions.
Motivated by that momentum, Flores relocated to Nashville and partnered with a management firm that secured his major-label contract. Under Island’s support he unveiled the reflective single “Holes” in 2023, which examined the “cycle of poverty” within his lineage. The track appeared on his seven-song label debut, the Life Lessons EP, issued that November. Its successor, the Half Life EP, arrived the next April. Powered by cuts such as “Running Out of Time” and “How to Save a Life,” the project climbed to number 11 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. Flores also collaborated with Arizona singer-songwriter Evan Honer on the 2024 single “Take Me as I Come.”
