Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, the Latin pop trio 3BallMTY introduced tribal guarachero to American audiences via their first full-length album, Inténtalo, which ascended to the top of the Regional Mexican Albums chart in 2011. Erick Rincón, Sheeqo Beat (born Sergio Zavala), and DJ Otto (born Albert Presenda) made up the group, each still a teenager when the Fonovisa imprint of Universal Music Latino issued the record. Toy Selectah produced the project, which proved pivotal in establishing tribal guarachero within the United States. Defined by pointy boots and skinny jeans, the style fuses Mexican cumbia with forward-thinking electronic dance music. No other act embodied the sound as successfully as 3BallMTY. Inténtalo climbed to number two on the Top Latin Albums chart and delivered a hit single through its title track.
