Talent courses through bloodlines in varying degrees, surging like a sudden deluge in certain households. Such abundance defines the trio known as 3T. Born to Tito Jackson and the late Delores Martes, the brothers Tariano Adaryll “Taj,” Taryll Adren, and Tito Joseph “TJ” count Michael Jackson as their uncle and Janet Jackson as their aunt. From an early age the siblings rehearsed and appeared onstage as a unit, honing their vocal approach while absorbing techniques from those around them. They first performed under the name Three T’s before adopting the streamlined 3T.

In 1992 the group received an opportunity to compose songs for the television miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream. They also contributed tracks to the soundtracks of the films Free Willy and Free Willy 2. The brothers issued their debut album, Brotherhood, on the Sony Records label in 1995; among its soulful selections were “Sexual Attention,” “Memories,” and “Words Without Meaning.” During the following five years they released several singles, including “I Need You,” “Gotta Be You,” “Tease Me,” and “Anything,” and supplied music for the soundtrack of the Will Smith feature Men in Black. Taj, Taryll, and TJ later devoted increasing energy to their independent imprint, TTT Music, which opened for business in January 2000.
