Country conventions receive as much defiance as adoption from Adeem the Artist. North Carolina native Adeem draws deeply from country tradition while shifting between folky storytelling and earthy down-home rockers. Those familiar sounds underpin empathetic portraits of 2020s America, where equality remains elusive for many. Acclaim first arrived with the 2021 album Cast Iron Pansexual, the release that affirmed Adeem’s pansexual identity. Strong reviews prompted Thirty Tigers to issue the 2022 album White Trash Revelry. The success of both projects gave the singer/songwriter room to broaden sonic range on Anniversary, the 2024 album produced by Butch Walker that adopted mainstream country textures without its typical outlook.

Born Adem Bingham in Locust, North Carolina, in 1988, Adeem passed adolescence in Syracuse, New York. Cruise-ship performances marked the start of a professional music career during the twenties, after which Knoxville, Tennessee, became home amid plans to enter the ministry. By 2011 the focus had shifted entirely to secular music. Several self-released albums followed over the next years and slowly built an online audience. With the arrival of 2021’s Cast Iron Pansexual, the artist began performing under the name Adeem the Artist.

That album’s visibility led Thirty Tigers to offer a recording deal in April 2022. White Trash Revelry appeared on the label before year’s end and earned a nomination for Emerging Act of the Year at the 2023 Americana Music Honors & Awards. Producer Butch Walker joined Adeem the Artist for Anniversary, a 2024 album tracked during a five-day session at Nashville’s the Butcher Shoppe. Aaron Lee Tasjan and Katie Pruitt contributed to the project, which aligned more closely with mainstream country than with Americana.
