ADEPT

Emerging in 2004 from the municipality of Trosa, the Swedish metalcore outfit Adept drew early comparisons to At the Gates, Meshuggah, and Shai Hulud through its aggressive style. The lineup centered on vocalist Robert Ljung, bassist Filip Brandelius, drummer Gabriel Hellmark, and guitarists Jerry Repo and Gustav Lithammer. Right after forming, the group issued its debut demo, Hopeless Illusions, as an independent release. Two further self-released EPs arrived in quick succession: When the Sun Gave Up the Sky in 2005 and The Rose Will Decay in 2006. A contract with the Swedish independent imprint Panic & Action followed in 2007, leading to the band’s first full-length studio album, Another Year of Disaster, which appeared in 2009. The sophomore effort, Death Dealers, surfaced in 2011, with Silence the World arriving two years later. For the fourth album, Sleepless, Adept shifted to Napalm Records in 2016.
