Biography
Emerging in the mid-1980s, Agressor ranks among the rare French death metal acts to earn notable attention, its name spelled with a second "g" that remains both invisible and silent. Singer and guitarist Alex Colin-Tocquaine launched the group and enlisted a series of sidemen until bassist J-M Libeer and drummer Jean-Luc Falsini completed the core lineup. After releasing two split LPs with fellow French band Loudblast, among them the 1987 effort Satan's Sodomy, the group landed a deal with Black Mark and issued Neverending Destiny in 1990, Towards Beyond in 1992, and Symposium of Rebirth in 1994. Colin-Tocquaine kept swapping supporting players throughout those years, leaving little doubt that Agressor was essentially his personal endeavor. A long stretch of inactivity ended only with the appearance of the 1999 LP Medieval Rites.
