Biography
Velvet Acid Christ traces its beginnings to a high school electronics course in 1990, when the project first operated under the name Cyberchrist before adopting its present title in tribute to a purportedly disastrous acid experience. The core lineup consists of Bryan Erickson alongside Chris, whose surname has never been documented. Through the lens of darkened industrial metal, the duo confronts the harsher dimensions of social concerns tied to their surroundings, addressing animal rights, environmental degradation, and technology’s growing dominance over humanity. That warning tone has remained constant since the arrival of their self-titled debut full-length in 1994. A subsequent agreement with Pendragon Records yielded Neuralblastoma, a compilation gathering earlier demo and single material, and the 1997 follow-up Calling Ov the Dead. After moving to Metropolis Records in 1998, the group issued the Fun with Drugs EP the next year, followed by the third album Fun with Knives and the Fun with Razors EP. Twisted Thought Generator appeared in fall 2000.
