Andy Caldwell, a house producer and DJ, first gained recognition through his involvement with the San Francisco-area ensemble Soulstice. His breakthrough arrived in 1994 via the single "Superfunkidiculous," after which he emerged as a central presence in the local club circuit by assembling the group alongside collaborator Gabriel Rene. The forward-thinking downtempo outfit issued a pair of albums on the influential Bay Area imprint Om Records, among them the widely praised 2001 debut Illusion, whose selections secured placements across multiple prominent television programs. Once Soulstice achieved its goals, Caldwell pursued an independent path and aligned with the San Francisco label Naked Music, generating notable house cuts such as "All I Need" and "I Can't Wait." He delivered his debut LP, Universal Truth, on Om Records in 2006. Rising visibility also positioned him as a frequent collaborator and remixer for fellow acts. He simultaneously redirected attention toward his own imprint, Uno Records, the electronic and EDM outlet established in 2004. A 2008 Grammy nomination arrived for his remix of a Kaskade single, followed by the release of his sophomore album, Obsession, on Uno in 2009. A second Grammy nod came in 2011 for Wolfgang Gartner's reinterpretation of Caldwell's original track "Funk Nasty." Beyond his own output, he has reworked material by Paul Oakenfold, Major Lazer, and Beyoncé while completing multiple international tours and securing a prominent residency at the Las Vegas mega-club Light.
