Born in 1978 in Muscle Shoals, AL, Angela Hacker spent her childhood alongside three sisters and carried a notably reserved demeanor. At age 13 she entered a local school singing contest, after which she maintains she “hasn't quit since.” The following sixteen years brought persistent obstacles in her pursuit of a singing career until she secured an audition for the fifth season of Nashville Star, the country counterpart to American Idol. Chosen as one of the ten finalists, she was widely viewed as the contestant to beat during the entire run. The final showdown placed her in direct competition with her younger brother, Zac Hacker; Angela ultimately claimed the victory and the accompanying recording contract from Warner Brothers Records. Her debut album, The Winner Is..., appeared on April 3, 2007, containing no singles because its sole purpose was to document her performances from the series. She is now preparing a second album in collaboration with Zac Hacker. Angela Hacker is the mother of one son, Bay Simpson, and makes her home in Florence, AL.
