Biography
Dutch multi-instrumentalist Arjen Anthony Lucassen maintained activity across numerous endeavors throughout a career spanning more than two decades. His standout efforts included the heavy metal band Vengeance during the 1980s and, throughout the 1990s, the progressively experimental Ayreon, an outfit whose successive releases consistently incorporated guest vocalists such as Kingdom Come's Lenny Wolfe, Marillion's Fish, and the Gathering's Anneke van Giersbergen, each typically portraying distinct roles within conceptual art rock operas. Positioned between those phases came his early-2000s endeavor Arjen Anthony Lucassen's Star One, an undertaking whose expansive scope found clear illustration in the 2002 album Space Metal along with its live counterpart Live on Earth issued the following year. Both releases likewise drew upon a rotating roster of supporting musicians that encompassed Rising Force and Stratovarious alum Jens Johansson, Edge of Sanity singer/guitarist Dan Swano, and Shadow Gallery guitarist Gary Wehrkamp. Stream of Passion represented yet another collaboration, this one pairing Lucassen alongside Mexican singer Marcela Bovio, with the group issuing multiple albums across the 2000s and 2010s.
