The ensemble borrowed its designation from Sherilyn Fenn's role in David Lynch's cult television series Twin Peaks. Although its origins lay in black metal, the unit cultivated a melodic hard rock and post-grunge approach shaped by classic rock acts such as Van Halen, Alice in Chains, Kiss, and Iron Maiden. Beginning with the aggressive 2005 release No Hay Banda, the musicians gradually wove harmony-rich classic-rock textures into later recordings, among them Youngblood (2013), Blackout (2018), and Devil's Bell (2022).

Formed in Bergen, Norway, in 2002, Audrey Horne coalesced around Torkjell Rød (Sylvia Wane), Thomas Tofthagen (Sahg), Arve Isdal (Enslaved), Tom Cato Visnes (Gorgoroth, King ov Hell), and Herbrand Larsen (Enslaved). Ahead of their debut album, the group issued the EP Confessions & Alcohol; No Hay Banda then captured the Norwegian Grammy Award for Best Metal Act the following year. Their second full-length, Le Fol, appeared in 2007. That same year Visnes and Larsen stepped away on friendly terms, though Larsen stayed on as a studio producer and engineer. A self-titled third album followed in 2010. Youngblood, issued in 2013, reduced the post-grunge emphasis while amplifying Thin Lizzy-style guitar harmonies. Pure Heavy (2014) and Blackout (2018) sustained that direction. In 2020 the band delivered its first live album, Waiting for the Night. Two years afterward they unveiled Devil's Bell, a concise, self-recorded nine-song collection whose driving title track served as an earworm-laden single.
