Biography
Scottish hard rock trio the Amorettes deliver anthemic songwriting through catchy riffs and fun-loving energy. The group first came together after Gill Montgomery (guitar, vocals) encountered Hannah McKay (drums) during their time at college in Edinburgh in 2009. Although another bassist initially joined, the lineup soon stabilized when Hannah’s younger sister Heather McKay was brought in. Within less than a year the trio had completed their debut album Haulin’ Ass and established themselves as an exciting Edinburgh-based band. Later that same year they received an unexpected opportunity when the scheduled support act for W.A.S.P.’s Edinburgh concert was held up in transit, prompting the Amorettes to fill the slot on short notice. Their profile expanded across Scotland by 2011, culminating in a Group of the Year honor at the Scottish New Music Awards. Over the following years the band focused on touring and festival appearances, steadily growing their audience. In 2015 they signed with Off Yer Rocka and were invited by Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy) to helm production on their second album, Game On. Luke Morley then produced the next two releases after being impressed by their support slot for his band Thunder on a U.K. tour, yielding 2016’s White Hot Heat and 2018’s Born to Break.
