Biography
Emerging amid a growing influx of post-metal groups that surfaced around the middle of the 2000s, Minnesota's Battlefields—Rusty Steele on vocals, Andrew Wallin on guitar, Matt Ricigliano on guitar, Ryan Coffer on bass, and Rob Schmidt on drums—issued their debut album Stained with the Blood of an Empire in 2006, prompting comparisons to Neurosis. The band, which had earned strong critical notice, followed with the single-track EP Entourage of the Archaic in 2007.
