Biography
Beat Connection took its name from an LCD Soundsystem track and blended indie pop with electronic textures positioned between the Drums and Daft Punk. The project originated with Reed Juenger and Jordan Koplowitz, two University of Washington students who first crossed paths as freshmen in 2008. They quickly started DJ’ing together and began sketching tracks in GarageBand. Their self-released debut EP, Surf Noir, came out in July 2010 and included guest vocals from folky singer/songwriter Tom Eddy on “Silver Screen,” the band’s first single, as well as on “In the Water.” Strong online interest prompted the Moshi Moshi imprint Tender Age to reissue the EP in April 2011. Several months afterward, the lineup grew with the addition of bassist Mark Hunter and drummer Jarred Katz. Eddy joined as a full member in time to help record the debut album The Palace Garden, which appeared in June 2012. After inking a deal with Anti Records in 2015, the group issued its second LP, Product 3, that fall.
