Korallreven

Korallreven comprises the Swedish electronic pop duo Marcus Joons alongside Daniel Tjäder, who maintains an additional role within Radio Dept. Their atmospheric approach relies on prominent synthesizers that fuse shoegaze layers with beats designed for club play, placing the pair near contemporaries such as jj, the Tough Alliance, and Air France, all fellow Swedes, together with Panda Bear. The group’s debut outing arrived as the single “Loved-Up” through the Swedish imprint Service during July 2009.

After securing a deal with Acephale in Canada, they delivered the 12-inch “The Truest Faith” in April 2010 and followed it in October with “Honey Mine,” which carried guest vocals from ex-Concrete Victoria Bergsman. Bloggers had by then embraced the act while anticipating a complete album. A co-release arrangement with the Swedish label Hybris enabled the September 2011 appearance of the single “As Young as Yesterday,” after which An Album by Korallreven surfaced in November. That collection gathered the prior singles and added further vocal contributions from Bergsman plus Julianna Barwick. Their next project, Second Comin’, emerged on Cascine in late 2014 and included appearances by I Break Horses’ Maria Lindén and Cornelius.
