The late-'80s fusion of industrial EBM and acid house left a clear mark on several acts, among them Psychic TV, Front 242, and Bigod 20, the latter an acid-house venture launched by veteran EBM producer Talla 2XLC. Formed as a trio that originally paired Talla with producer Jallokin and later added vocalist Zip Campisi, the group entered the scene in 1988 via two club successes, “Body to Body” and “America,” the second of which carried extra writing contributions from Front 242 members Richard 23 and Patrick Codenys. Label difficulties prompted a break lasting more than two years, yet Sire Records extended an American contract in 1992 that Bigod 20 accepted. Their initial release under the new agreement, “The Bog,” featured vocals by Jean Luc DeMeyer of Front 242. The same year the duo recruited Zip Campisi for lead vocals on the debut full-length Steel Works. By the time Supercute appeared in 1994, however, Talla 2XLC had departed to pursue an essentially solo path, issuing material independently on Polygram, Suck Me Plasma, and Cleopatra.
