Possessing a clear singing voice with extensive range and emotionally charged, contrasting style that succeeded both in stage musicals and on dance music rankings, Brian Justin Crum participated in multiple national tours of Broadway shows prior to beginning his work in pop music. He reached a wider listenership after placing fourth on NBC’s America’s Got Talent during its 2016 season. The exposure led to chart placement for his version of Robyn’s “Show Me Love,” which in turn earned him a spot on the 2019 edition of America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

Born and raised in San Diego, California, he studied at the local School of Creative and Performing Arts before relocating to New York City for Broadway auditions. After gaining experience in regional theater, he joined the 2008–2009 national tour of the Grease revival and later served as an understudy for the 2010 Broadway run of Next to Normal. In 2011 he appeared in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit while also performing with the touring production of The Addams Family over the following two years; late 2013 found him on the road with We Will Rock You. He subsequently settled in Los Angeles to focus on a pop career.

Crum reached a national television audience in 2016 when he was chosen for the eleventh season of America’s Got Talent, where he delivered Radiohead’s “Creep” and Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” en route to fourth place. That year he also co-starred in the web series Break: The Musical and issued a cover of Robyn’s “Show Me Love” with Toy Armada and DJ Grind. The track appeared on Billboard’s Hot/Dance Electronic Songs and Dance Club Songs charts, peaking at number two on the latter listing in 2017. He followed it with the solo EDM single “Wild Side” that November.

Invited back to NBC in early 2019 for the first America’s Got Talent: The Champions, he advanced to the finals with his interpretation of Elton John’s “Your Song.”
