Broken Teeth

Originating from Texas, the gritty hard rock outfit Broken Teeth coalesced in Austin during 1999 when singer Jason McMaster and guitarist Paul Lidel—both alumni of the glam metal outfit Dangerous Toys—assembled the initial roster. Their debut effort, issued that year on the independent Perris Records imprint, presented the lineup of McMaster alongside guitarists Lidel and Joe E. Yung, bassist Willy Yung, and drummer Bruce Rivers. Perris also handled the 2002 successor Guilty Pleasure, which reflected a revised configuration limited to McMaster, Lidel, and Rivers plus bassist Mike Watson, with producer Jared Tuten supplying supplementary guitar parts.

The 2004 live recording Blood on the Radio captured a radio-broadcast performance after Tuten had become a full-time guitarist and Brett McCormick had taken over bass duties. Paul Lidel departed in 2006, prompting Dave Beeson to join as lead guitarist for the 2007 Cargo Records release Electric. The same personnel reconvened for 2010’s Viva La Rock, Fantastico!, which welcomed guest vocals from Danko Jones, frontman of the identically named Canadian band. Robb Lampman assumed bass responsibilities ahead of the 2015 EP Bulldozer, after which the group aligned with EMP Label Group—established by Megadeth’s David Ellefson—for the 2017 album Four on the Floor, highlighted by their tribute track “Never Dead” honoring Motorhead’s Lemmy.
