Chxrry22 crafts a sultry, atmospheric fusion of pop and R&B that defines her sound. A major-label agreement in 2022 led to the release of her EP The Other Side, with the follow-up Siren arriving the next year.
Toronto-born to Ethiopian immigrant parents, the artist whose name is pronounced Cherry developed an early passion for music and began uploading vocal clips to online platforms. Several of those clips achieved viral status by 2017. After relocating to Atlanta, she drew interest from label executives and secured a contract with the Weeknd’s XO Records. Her debut single, the lush and moody ballad “The Falls,” appeared in April 2022. “Call Me” came out several months afterward, and both tracks featured on The Other Side. Throughout the next year she continued issuing similarly dreamy singles, including “Worlds Away” and “Never Had This” featuring Vory; the latter cut was included on her sophomore EP Siren, which surfaced in October 2023.
