Clamm, a Melbourne trio rooted in the city's turbulent punk underground, first took shape as an outlet for heightened ferocity among participants from Gamjee and Dragoons. The project soon expanded into a primary commitment, with the group delivering live performances and unleashing their dense, turbulent punk on the 2021 debut album Beseech Me. Follow-up Care surfaced in 2022 and introduced synths alongside saxophones.

Guitarist and vocalist Jack Summers joined drummer Miles Harding to launch the band around 2019, motivated by a desire for greater sonic weight despite their ongoing roles in other local outfits. Bassist Luke Scott completed the lineup, prompting an initial run of shows. The debut Beseech Me received a cassette self-release in 2020, though Scott contributed only before leaving Australia to study in Poland. Maisie Everett of Belair Lip Bombs stepped in on bass, enabling the trio to persist. April 2021 brought a wider issue of Beseech Me via Meat Machine, the Tin Angel Records sublabel.

Care became the first Clamm recording to include Everett on bass and backing vocals while also featuring producer Nao Anzai on synth for several tracks. Saxophonist Anna Gordon supplied dissonant post-jazz lines to multiple cuts. The album appeared in August 2022 on both Meat Machine and Chapter Music.
