Biography
Swedish thrash metal outfit Comecon gained its primary historical footnote by launching the career of L-G Petrov, later Entombed’s frontman. Guitarist Pelle Ström, bassist Rasmus Ekman and drummer Andre Green completed the lineup that delivered the group’s 1991 Century Media debut, Megatrends in Brutality, an album whose title alone appeared to exhaust most of its creative spark. Petrov evidently agreed, departing shortly afterward and clearing the path for Martin Van Drunen to assume vocal duties ahead of the equally overlooked 1993 follow-up Converging Conspiracies. By the time the 1995 swansong Fable Frolic appeared, yet another singer, Morgoth’s Marc Grewe, occupied the microphone; the record opened with the track “Soft Creamy Lather,” hardly an encouraging omen for global metal conquest.
