Biography
Formed in France back in 1996, Comity first set out to mirror the aggressive approach of New York hardcore before shifting toward an intricate, expansive, and wholly erratic brand of modern metal that sits between the math-metal intricacies of the Dillinger Escape Plan and the sweeping, film-like scope of Neurosis. Their first appearance on record arrived in 2001 with the peculiarly named The Catharsis Synthax Project, issued as a split with another French act; from there vocalist Thomas, guitarists Yann and François, bassist Alex, and drummer Guillaume topped that effort two years later by delivering the demanding, labyrinthine full-length Deus Ex-Machina As a Forgotten Genius (Andy Warhol Sucks).
