Biography
In 1993, Cool for August came together in Los Angeles when L.A. scene veteran Gordon Vaughn first joined forces with Canadian expatriate guitarist Trevor Kustiak and drummer Shane Hills. Maryland native Andrew Shives soon joined on bass, prompting the band to record a demo tape that attracted no label offers until Warner Bros. signed them in 1995. The musicians then relocated to Atlanta to produce their 1997 debut Grand World, an album featuring guest appearances by onetime American Music Club members Mark Eitzel and Bruce Kaphan.
