Biography
Forming in 2012, the Bay Area punk outfit Creative Adult united musicians drawn from several regional outfits including No Sir, All Teeth, and Life Long Tragedy. Scott Phillips, Michael Fenton, James Rogers, Ian Simpson, and Michael Bingham made up the new lineup, which quickly shaped a style rooted in goth punk forebears such as Bauhaus and Joy Division yet marked by sharper post-hardcore aggression akin to Pissed Jeans and the Men. Before the year closed, the group released its debut EP, Dead Air, on Broke Hatre. The next twelve months brought a string of cassette and 7" recordings plus the Bulls in the Yard EP. National touring followed, leading in 2014 to the first full-length album, Psychic Mess, issued by Run for Cover Records. For 2016’s Fear of Life the band embraced a brighter, more melodic direction shaped by the Smiths and Oasis.
