Biography
At their birthplace of Las Joyas, Guerrero, brothers José Jiménez on vocals and accordion, Richardson Jiménez on drums, and Jesús Jiménez on electric bass assembled Cristaleros del Sur. After the founding members relocated to Nueva Italia, Michoacán, singer/songwriter Manuel Velasco and bassist Armando Tolentino joined the Mexican group.
The ensemble took up residence in Fresno, CA, launching U.S. tours prior to the release of Cerros Michoacanos, produced by Juan Ramírez and spotlighting the hit single “La Venganza de Maria,” written by Julián Garza.
