Biography
Cypress Spring, a country-rap outfit hailing from the Panhandle town of Vernon, Florida, draw inspiration from the everyday experiences of ordinary folks as well as a straightforward “cowboy up or sit down” mindset for their Southern rock-infused take on small-town hick-hop. The group formed in 2013 with Paul Roche, Kalan Miller, Greg Hogue, and Jacob Parish at its core, members whose early listening habits encompassed Lynyrd Skynyrd, Merle Haggard, Nelly, T.I., and Ludacris. Conceived by Roche and Miller—close companions who share passions for music, hunting, fishing, and partying—the quartet issued its first single, “Way of Life,” in 2014, enlisting the Lacs and Danny Boone as featured artists. The following year saw the release of a matching EP on Average Joes Entertainment, a label also home to kindred spirits such as Colt Ford, Lenny Cooper, and the Lacs. Anchored by its title-track single, the band’s first full-length album, Denim, appeared in early 2017 and included appearances by labelmates and friends Ford, Boone, and the Lacs. Their sophomore album, American White Trash, followed in 2018.
