Born Danniela Carlos in Rio de Janeiro on July 2, 1975, Brazilian singer Danni Carlos first gained widespread attention by reinterpreting English-language pop and rock songs for local audiences before shifting toward original Portuguese-language work. Her recording career began in 2003 with the release of Rock 'n' Road, an album that assembled covers of tracks such as Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine," the Divinyls' "I Touch Myself," and Fleetwood Mac's "You Make Loving Fun." The project achieved substantial commercial success across Brazil, prompting a sequence of comparable releases: Rock 'n' Road Again in 2004, Rock 'n' Road All Night in 2005, Rock 'n' Road Movies in 2006, and Rock 'n' Road Acústico in 2007. That same year Carlos issued Música Nova, her initial collection of original compositions, which included the chart-topping single "Coisas que Eu Sei" selected as the theme for the telenovela Duas Caras. The album itself reached number two on the Brazilian charts and registered strong sales.
