Daphné, a French pop singer whose alternative approach draws comparisons to Kate Bush, Camille, and Björk, claimed the 2007 Prix Constantin. She entered the world in Clermont-Ferrand, located in Puy-de-Dôme, France, and launched her first full-length release, L'Émeraude, through V2 Music in 2005. The album blended orchestral elements with electronic touches and trip-hop rhythms, achieving moderate commercial performance by producing the single "L'Insoumise" and peaking at number 115 on the French albums chart. Her next effort, Carmin, arrived in 2007 and marked a significant step forward in Daphné's career, particularly regarding critical reception. Featuring a more natural musical approach compared to her debut, this record yielded the singles "Musicamor" and "La Petit Navire," climbed to position 101 on the French album charts, and maintained a presence there for 22 weeks spanning 2007 and 2008. Strong reviews played a key role in boosting Carmin's sales, most notably through the Prix Constantin honor given annually in France for the top album from an emerging artist.
