Days Away, an alternative and indie rock band, originated in 1998 while its members were still attending high school in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. The founding lineup featured Keith Goodwin handling vocals and guitar, alongside Jake Weiss on guitar, Matt Haines on drums, and Chris Frangicetto on bass. Following two years of local performances, the musicians moved as a unit to California after completing their education. A suggestion from their acquaintance Kenny Vasoli of the Starting Line connected them with the Orange County independent label We the People, resulting in the 2002 release of their Feel of It EP. Extensive touring combined with significant online visibility quickly broadened their audience. By 2003, the addition of Tim Arnold on drums enabled the issuance of the L.S.D. EP. Keyboardist Bryan Gulla joined next, finalizing the band's roster. They subsequently recorded their first album with producer Neal Avron, and Fueled by Ramen put out Mapping an Invisible World in May 2005.
