DD Osama

Born in 2006 as David DeShaun Reyes to parents of Dominican descent, New York rapper DD Osama launched his recording career in 2021 alongside younger brother Ethan, who performed as Notti Osama. Their first joint effort, “Aftermath,” included Blockwork, while March 2022 brought “Too Tact” with Sugarhill Ddot. On July 9 that year Ethan was stabbed to death at age 14; the brothers’ earlier recording “Dead Opps” was then issued and quickly went viral. DD Osama paid tribute with “Long Live Notti” and “Letter 2 Notti,” after which his profile rose sharply through singles featuring Lil Mabu and Coi Leray. Although best recognized for incisive drill cuts filled with stark lyrics and explosive ad-libs, he also crafts vulnerable melodic pieces that articulate grief. The 2023 mixtape Here 2 Stay examined both his sudden renown and the loss of his brother, and subsequent collaborations with Luh Tyler and Shoebox Baby preceded the arrival of Before the Album in 2024.
