Biography
Originating in Johanngeorgenstadt, Saxony, the volksmusik trio De Randfichten, devoted to traditional German Alpine music, assembled in 1992. Core members Thomas "Rups" Unger and Michael "Michl" Rostig were later joined by Thomas "Lauti" Lauterbach. Operating at first under the name Original Arzgebirgische Randfichten, the group adopted its present title upon issuing the 1997 release Do Pfeift dr Fuchs. After sustaining steady popularity inside the regional folk circuit for several years, the band reached a wider listenership in 2004 when the hit single Lebt Denn dr Alte Holzmichl Noch...? attained the number-three position on the German pop charts.
